Bosch is closing its plant in Bernolákovo, Slovakia, where its Mobility Aftermarket division currently employs 148 people, and relocating alternator remanufacturing to Pećinci in Serbia. Production is to be phased out by the end of March 2027, after which the site will close. Bosch cites cost pressure in labour-intensive alternator remanufacturing and the consolidation of smaller sites (Pravda/TASR, 16.09.2026). — Source: https://www.pravda.sk/spravy/ekonomika/clanok/2042475-dalsia-rana-pre-slovensky-priemysel-bosch-konci-v-bernolakove-a-stahuje-sa-o-pracu-pride-148-ludi

The state-owned passenger rail operator ZSSK is dismissing about 191 to 200 employees in 2026, around 4% of its workforce, mainly ticket-sales staff as well as administrative and support staff; operational railway positions are unaffected. The process began in April 2026 and is to conclude by the end of the year; the reasons are the digitalisation of ticket sales, declining use of ticket offices and fiscal consolidation pressure (Eurofound European Restructuring Monitor, April 2026). — Source: https://apps.eurofound.europa.eu/restructuring-events/detail/300355

The Slovak railway ŽSR completed construction work on the renewal and electrification of the Devínska Nová Ves–state border at Marchegg line on 6 October 2025; the final price was about EUR 11.3 million. Line speed rises from 80 to 120 km/h, which according to the transport minister will make the train between the main stations of Bratislava and Vienna faster than the car, and ZSSK cites up to 38 daily connections including new REX trains. Completion had been contractually due by 27 December 2024 (300 working days); delays came from protected animal species in a Natura 2000 area, floods in April and September 2024 and unexpected wartime structures (a bunker) at the Morava bridge.
