On 27 July 2026 the Slovak arm of Turkish automotive supplier Mata Automotive (interior components for premium-segment vehicles) filed for collective redundancy (hromadné prepúšťanie) and will cease operations in the Veľký Krtíš district entirely by 30 November 2026. 119 employees are affected. The company attributes the move to the unfavourable Europe-wide trend in the automotive industry and a fall in customer orders, which prompted management to restructure its business model and withdraw from Slovakia. The source is the Slovak news agency TASR (teraz.sk). — Source: https://www.teraz.sk/ekonomika/mata-automotive-slovakia-ohlasila-hroma/980724-clanok.html

The Slovak government has signed agreements to restart primary aluminium production at Slovalco, which had been idle since 2022 because of high energy prices. Slovalco commits to resume production, invest in modernisation and decarbonisation and maintain employment; the state compensates indirect carbon costs, reduces contributions to the nuclear fund and secures electricity for up to ten years through the state-owned Vodohospodárska výstavba. The government hopes for partial production in 2026 and full operation in 2027; the source gives neither investment amount nor job numbers (STVR, 2 Jul 2026). — Source: https://enrsi.stvr.sk/articles/news/451520/new-deal-secures-slovalcos-future

ŽSR has completed the renewal of the Fiľakovo–Prša–Holiša section: the Gemer consortium renewed track bed and superstructure, five level crossings, bridges and culverts for EUR 28.8 million excluding VAT (Recovery and Resilience Plan funds) and rebuilt the Fiľakovo, Prša and Holiša stops with raised platforms; mechanical barriers were replaced by automatic systems. After technical acceptance on 15 December 2025 the section entered service ahead of schedule; the report gives 16 December as the day but writes the year 2026, which evidently means 2025.
The 21.5 km railway line between Haniska pri Košiciach and Moldava nad Bodvou (Košice-okolie District) was handed over to passenger service after electrification on 17 February 2025. Construction began in July 2021 and cost roughly EUR 66.8 million, 85% EU-funded; the project was delayed by supply-chain issues and unexploded ordnance found at several sites. Trains can now run at up to 100 km/h, with modern Panter electric multiple units planned to enter service from 2026. — Source: https://www.teraz.sk/regiony/elektrifikovanu-trat-haniska-moldava/857349-clanok.html
