Vossloh has taken over Australian automated rail inspection specialist Rail Technology International (RTI), broadening its range of rail-condition assessment solutions and its data and analytics expertise. RTI, based in Melbourne, founded in 1988 and employing about 50 people, uses ultrasound and eddy-current measurement to detect internal and near-surface rail damage early; its systems run on road-rail vehicles, inspection trains or test cars and collect data during normal operation as a basis for predictive maintenance. It is Vossloh's second purchase in its digital push after Cordel in August; the report gives no price, and the date is the day of the report.
Australia's High Speed Rail Authority pre-qualified three bidders for trains and systems on 19 August 2026 (Alstom/UGL, Siemens Mobility with Mott MacDonald, Hitachi Rail STS) and three construction consortia for package 1 on 17 August (Acciona/John Holland, Gamuda/FCC/Samsung C&T, CPB/Ferrovial/VINCI). The Berowra–Ourimbah package covers about 35 km of twin tunnels and Central Coast station at Gosford; major construction contracts follow only after the government decision (LOK Report, 20 Aug 2026). — Source: https://www.lok-report.de/news/uebersee/australien-je-drei-vorqualifizierte-bieter-fuer-die-zuege-und-den-bau-der-hochgeschwindigkeitsstrecke-newcastle-sydney-ausgewaehlt.html

🌍 Knorr-Bremse to modernise Fortescue's train control by mid-2027 (Australia)

Fortescue Metals Group, a mining group, has commissioned Knorr-Bremse to modernise and digitalise its rail network in Western Australia, several hundred kilometres long, over which iron ore travels from the mines to the coastal ports. The programme runs in stages until mid-2027: the existing ITCS train control system is upgraded and key infrastructure components are moved to the ElectroLogIXS platform of the group unit KB Signaling (headquartered in the USA), so that ore trains weighing up to 5,000 t receive their driving parameters remotely in real time instead of pulling into sidings to adjust them. Further technology (EC6 digital track circuit, Rail TempEst rail temperature measurement) is also being examined; the report gives no contract value, and the date is the day of the report.
🌍 Vossloh to supply 250,000 sleepers for Maroona–Portland line (Australia)

Vossloh has won an order from the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) to manufacture and supply 250,000 concrete sleepers for the roughly 170 km freight line between Maroona and the port of Portland in the state of Victoria; 220,000 come from the plant in Wagga Wagga and 30,000 from Geelong, with production running from February 2026 to August 2027. ARTC is thereby replacing worn timber sleepers: the line, which is important for grain exports, may so far only be used at an axle load of 19 t and 40 km/h (the usual figures are 23 t and 80 km/h), and after the upgrade heavier and faster trains are to run. The Australian government is funding the modernisation with A$150 million (about EUR 90 million); the article does not give the contract date, so the date of the report is used.
Since September 2025 South Australia’s transport department has run all rail and tram operations in the Adelaide area on IVU.rail software from Berlin-based IVU Traffic Technologies. The tram network was connected after only five months of project time; more than 100 vehicles are now planned and dispatched with it, and the systems run in the IVU.cloud. The date is a placeholder for the month of September 2025; the article gives no start day (LOK Report, 24 Nov 2025) — Source: https://www.lok-report.de/news/uebersee/63320-australien-ivu-rail-steuert-gesamten-schienenverkehr-in-adelaide.html
