Bulgaria's competition commission KZK conditionally cleared the acquisition of confectionery maker Prestige-96 (brands Naya, Hyper, Mirage, Roden kraj) by Ireland's Valeo Foods Group on 15 July: for three years, Valeo may not tie the supply of Prestige product lines to purchases of other group products. The deal, announced in March 2026, can now proceed to completion.
Valeo is again cutting 134 jobs at its Ebern site – already the fourth staff reduction in a row. Affected: 109 jobs in R&D (the area will be almost completely closed), 25 jobs in production-support areas. 37 R&D employees will receive an offer to transfer to Erlangen (centralisation of the Power division). The number of employees fell from 1,650 (2016) to 763. Reason: the site is almost exclusively dependent on the combustion engine and has been loss-making for years. IG Metall criticises the lack of a transformation strategy and innovation. The works council warns: cutting back on R&D puts the future of the site at stake. — Source: https://www.wiesentbote.de/2026/01/25/valeo-kuendigt-erneuten-stellenabbau-am-standort-ebern-an/
