Tesco has announced a national restructuring with 380 job cuts. Critically affected: the Teesport warehouse site in Middlesbrough, with around 150 night-shift workers at risk. In addition: the closure of the Hinckley Distribution Centre in Leicestershire (with an offer of nearshoring to the new, larger logistics centre next door). Management restructuring: around 40 managers at risk. Further measures: changes to replenishment schedules, closure of a central bakery plant (in favour of in-store bakeries at around 100 Express sites), additional investment in F&F clothing departments. Tesco claims around 1,500 vacancies company-wide; it promises support for those affected. The Usdaw union is in consultation. Reason: corporate restructuring, increasing efficiency amid 'continued strong performance'. — Source: https://www.gazettelive.co.uk/news/teesside-news/tesco-warehouse-workers-job-cuts-33319813
