<summary>Stadler plans to invest CHF 33 million in modernising and extending its Biel steel foundry, whose castings are used in rail vehicles worldwide; in July 2026 Stadler Stahlguss AG filed a building application for a new dispatch hall and an extension of the existing building. The conversion is planned for early 2027 and the extended facilities are due to be running from 2028; the 115 jobs at the site are to be kept and grown by 5%. Plans include a solar array of about 8,900 m², roughly 15% lower energy consumption, about 80% less production waste thanks to better reuse of moulding sand, and feeding process heat into the district heating network; the date is the day of the report.
