On 10 October 2025, during a visit to Renfe's new high-speed workshop Fuencarral II in Madrid, Transport Minister Óscar Puente presented a workshop and maintenance plan for 2025–2030 worth €1 billion. It covers more than 60 planned workshops (ten of them already under construction or in the project stage), new sites in Almería, Irun and La Sagra among others, and three spare-parts logistics centres. The 18,900 m² Fuencarral II hall cost almost €100 million, doubles maintenance capacity for standard-gauge trains and was due to enter service before the end of 2025; new processes are meant to cut workshop times by 29% (LOK Report, 24 Oct 2025; second source: La Moncloa, 10 Oct 2025). — Sources: https://www.lok-report.de/news/europa/spanien/62338-spanien-1-mrd-eur-zur-modernisierung-der-wartungswerkstaetten-von-renfe.html · https://www.lamoncloa.gob.es/serviciosdeprensa/notasprensa/transportes-movilidad-sostenible/paginas/2025/101025-puente-talleres-renfe-millones.aspx
