Greek utility PPC and Amazon Web Services signed a binding memorandum of understanding for a data centre campus at the Agios Dimitrios site in Western Macedonia: 300 MW in the first phase by the end of 2028, expandable to up to 1 GW by 2031, with a 15-year lease to AWS once completed. PPC's initial investment is €1.2bn and the overall plan including renewable capacity around €5.7bn (PPC cites €5.8bn for the full scheme); the company targets an EBITDA contribution of €170m in 2030 and a ROIC of 12 to 14 %.
Greek utility PPC (ΔΕΗ) announced on 7 August 2026 a strategic agreement with Germany's ABO Energy GmbH & Co. KGaA to acquire its country subsidiaries ABO Energy Polska and ABO Energy Hungary along with their development teams. The portfolio comprises 29 project companies holding 99 MW of solar capacity in operation or nearing completion plus more than 2 GW of solar, wind and battery storage projects at various stages of development; no transaction value was disclosed. The move follows PPC's recent entries into Hungary (a 57.5 MW solar park) and Poland (a 277.3 MW portfolio) and serves its 2026–2030 strategic plan, which targets expansion into Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. Update (18 Sept 2026): Closing of the Polish leg is now expected in September 2026 and of the Hungarian leg (ABO Energy Hungary) in the fourth quarter of 2026; both remain subject to customary conditions including regulatory approvals. No completion has been confirmed so far (ot.gr, 18 Sept 2026). Update (18 Sep 2026): PPC reported on 18 Sep 2026 the completion of the Polish leg — the acquisition of 17 Polish ABO Energy subsidiaries with solar, wind and storage projects of up to 1.2 GW (including a 17 MW solar farm under construction). The Hungarian leg (project portfolio of around 1.1 GW) is still subject to regulatory approvals expected in the fourth quarter of 2026 (Börse Express, 19 Sep 2026). — Source: https://www.newsit.gr/oikonomia/megales-epixeiriseis/i-dei-ekleise-symfonia-gia-erga-ape-ano-ton-2-gw-se-polonia-kai-ouggaria/4746390/
