Boehringer Ingelheim announced on 11 August 2026 that it has acquired Swiss biotech company Evax AG. Founded more than a decade ago as a spin-out of the University of Zurich, Evax develops therapeutic vaccines for horses, particularly against allergic skin diseases; the technology uses virus-like particles that prompt the immune system to produce neutralising antibodies. The deal builds on Boehringer's collaboration with, and subsequent 2024 acquisition of, Saiba Animal Health.
